Katherine Falk, M.D. is a psychiatrist in private practice in New York City who employs both conventional and complementary medicine to treat a wide spectrum of psychiatric disorders. She has practiced integrative psychiatry for more than 20 years and has developed strategies to successfully treat depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety using nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, and vitamins.
Dr. Falk is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and teaches a series of lectures on Integrative Psychiatry to 3rd year psychiatry residents as part of their required psychopharmacology course.
She is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She was awarded the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill in 1993, and received the 2001 Good Neighbor Award from Goddard Riverside Community Center "in recognition of extraordinary deeds in helping to build a better community."
In 1985, Dr Falk founded The Project for Psychiatric Outreach to the Homeless, Inc., which she served as medical director and president of the board for 18 years. Still in operation, this award-winning program remains an important resource in New York City, providing free psychiatric care to adults, families, and children who are mentally ill and homeless.
A graduate of Barnard College and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, she completed an internship, one year of residency in medicine, and a three-year residency in psychiatry at St. Luke's Hospital Center, New York City.
